I offer playful, personality-filled cake smash sessions in Morristown, NJ, designed to capture all the joy, curiosity, and frosting-covered cuteness of this once-in-a-lifetime milestone. I recommend booking these sessions between 10-11 months old so you have the photos back before their special day!
At A Lovely Shade of Jade Photography, my cake smash sessions are simple, sweet, and totally focused on your little birthday babe—whether they go headfirst into the frosting or need a few Cheerios tucked in to get started 😉

🌿 Outdoors at a beautiful local park (these are my faves!) – perfect for soft natural light and those airy, timeless photos. These also work well in your backyard if the light is right!
🎂 Simple in-garage “studio” setup – great for a clean, classic backdrop with sweet pops of color from the cake and their cute outfit - end with confetti for even more fun! But no over-the-top sets here. Just a kid and their cake :)

• $50 print credit to your gallery shop
• Private online gallery delivery
• Option to upgrade to the full gallery: +$300
• Parents provide the cake and outfit
• Session takes place outdoors or in front of a simple garage backdrop
✨ These sessions are designed just for the birthday child—but if the session is outdoors and you’d like to hop in for a quick photo at the end, I’m happy to include one! This one work with the backdrop sessions because they are sized for one child.
What to Expect
Don’t worry if your little one isn’t quite sure what to do with a cake (some babies don’t love sweets just yet!). I’ve got tricks up my sleeve—sometimes we sneak a few of their favorite snacks into the frosting to help them start exploring. It’s all part of the fun, and no two cake smash sessions are the same.
I’m also happy to help with styling tips, outfit ideas, and even cake inspiration or local bakery recommendations if you need them!

The best time to book is when your baby is around 10-11 months old, especially if you want your photos in time for birthday invites or to display at their party. Sessions are available year-round, and we’ll choose the best location based on the season and your preferred vibe.
