The goal for Lifestyle Headshot and Branding sessions is to stay true to your own personal style while still keeping it professional. For some this could be the hardest part of the session itself.

HELP…WHAT DO I WEAR??

Please don’t panic at all. You know you better than anyone. If what you put on feels awkward, it isn’t the right choice. You want to feel your best while letting that amazing personality and style shine through. Whether you are a creative, business professional, salon owner or fitness trainer you want to bring your own personal style to these images but still reflect a professionalism to your brand. Below are 3 Tips to help you choose a style that fits you and your brand as well as a few things to avoid.

Colors and Patterns. I always say to start with something on the neutral end but add a pop somewhere whether that be with a pattern or a pop of color. Also, consider what your brand colors are. Maybe you love the color hot pink and your brand has a lot of this color as well, I would add the pop of pink somewhere without letting it overpower you and take away from the images. Maybe add that color into a killer pair of heels or a chunky necklace and pair it with a neutral grey dress. Colors to definitely avoid are NEONS as well as ALL WHITE. Wearing white is ok as long as there is another color to break up all the white. White jeans with a colored top or a white dress with color in the print is fine :) Do you love animal prints and do people know you for that? If so, wear that print….but in a subtle way. Put on a scarf or like I said above…wear a killer pair of leopard heels!

Comfort and Style. Wear something that makes you feel good. If you are comfortable in what you are wearing that will reflect in your photoshoot. A couple of things to avoid though are very tight clothing as well as ultra baggy items. Unless you are a personal trainer wearing fitness clothing, wearing a skin tight top or dress might not be the best option when it comes to this type of session. The lines from the undergarments inevitable show through in the images which result in an unflattering photo as well as a dress that is very baggy might feel comfortable but will make you appear larger in images. Certain fabrics will leave wrinkles especially when you get out of your car. In order to avoid this choose a couple of pieces and wear them for a few hours before deciding on which you will choose to wear for photoshoot day. If there are wrinkles they will show up a lot more in the pictures.

Accessorize. Accessories bring so much personality into these types of sessions so please don’t forget about them! A neutral, long dress can turn boho just by adding in some fun crochet earrings or a fun cardigan or jacket can turn one style into two different styles just by putting it on.

Things to avoid

Neon colors, All White, Large logos and large heels if you are clumsy like I am:) Otherwise definitely rock those heels!
